The day your new puppy first sees its new home is a special day for any new pet owner. Playing with them, caring for them, and watching them explore every room of their new home is heartwarming and fun. Regrettably, many people forget that cleaning up your little bundle of fur’s mess in your home is a responsibility that can quickly become irritating.

SPCA of ETX: 'We are hoping to give abused animals a second chance at life'

SPCA of ETX: 'We are hoping to give abused animals a second chance at life'

From the SPCA of East Texas:

The SPCA of East Texas is seeking loving and safe homes to take care of the dozens of homeless and abandoned animals that are waiting to be adopted by their forever family. “The individual love and care you provide gives these animals an opportunity to flourish,” said Deborah Tittle-Dobbs, SPCA of East Texas Board President. “Foster periods may vary from a couple of weeks to several months – but the impact on the person and pet last a lifetime.”

Being a foster parent for homeless animals is a rewarding and gratifying experience. With the extra attention and socialization, animals that are fostered are more likely to be adopted into permanent, loving homes. Thanks to volunteers, we have temporarily housed over 125 animals including dogs, cats, horses and donkeys.

SPCA creates SNIPPET spay/neuter program with PetSmart grant money

SPCA creates SNIPPET spay/neuter program with PetSmart grant money

From SPCA of East Texas:

The SPCA of East Texas has received a $98,000 targeted grant from PetSmart Charities to spay or neuter dogs living in the 75702 zip code for a discounted rate of $25 which includes rabies.

“The 75702 zip code of Tyler has the highest percentage of strays according to City of Tyler Animal Control.  The major reason being pets not spayed or neutered and having multiple litters of puppies or kittens each year, “ said Deborah Tittle-Dobbs, SPCA of East Texas Board President. “For many families the joy of pet ownership is also a burden when it comes to the cost of spay/neuter, vaccinations and other needed medical care. We hope this grant will help families keep their pet but also prevent the hundreds unwanted litters born each year in our community.”

The program is called SNIPPET or spay neuter initiative partnership project of East Texas and it has many benefits.
