Thalian Culture Club donates money and time to NE TX Children's Museum

Released by Northeast Texas Children's Museum:

Christmas came early to the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum with a $1000 donation from the Thalian Culture Club. The donation is designated for a long-awaited kitchen in the Museum. Not only did the Thalians donate the money, but Thalian member Susan Patton and husband Jim selected a sink and cabinet and brought them to the Museum. This cooperative effort was finalized with the help of Texas A&M University-Commerce whose maintenance people installed the new sink.

“This is so exciting to us,” exclaimed Sharline Freeman, executive director. “As we hosted our Brunch with Santa today, we actually had water and a sink to wash our dishes! Previously we either brought water from home or we used a water hose. We are so appreciative of the support of the Thalians and the University.”

“There are so many volunteers who come to the Museum to help with special events.

Everything is set for the annual church production until the Herman's show up and almost ruin it all. "This is such a delightful show," says director, Maryann Miller. "And it has a terrific message. One of my actors pointed out that sometimes the best sermons don't come from a pulpit."

The show, which will be performed the first two weekends in December - December 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, stars the WCA young players, several of whom are from the summer drama camp, and some talented adults. Showtimes are 7:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with a matinee on both Sundays at 2:00pm.

The Northeast Texas Community College Eagles Softball team took some time away from the field recently to give back to the local community. The 21 ladies spent last weekend working on various service projects and team building exercises.

"It is easy for athletes to get so caught up in competition that they don't take the time to step back and look at the bigger picture. Our girls aren't just here to play softball, they are here to grow as people.

Community service is a great way for them to mature as a team while doing meaningful work,"

Eagles head softball coach, Jay Terry, said.

Friday morning started off with the team weeding the flower beds on the NTCC campus.
